Why does the Company care if you are represented by a union or not?  There are several reasons:

Our People
We don’t believe our people should have to pay someone else to have good wages, benefits, and a good place to work.  We don’t believe our people should have to pay someone else to speak for them if they have issues or concerns.  Over 80% of US Foods employees are not represented by a union.  They have good jobs, and are able to communicate and work directly with management without having to pay someone else.

Statistics show that the higher the level of employee satisfaction, the higher the level of customer satisfaction.  You and your success drive the success of US Foods.

And overall, according to the engagement survey data, our employees in non-union work environments have a higher level of engagement and satisfaction in their jobs as compared to our employees represented by unions.

Our Business
From a business perspective, being non-union is an advantage.  We don’t have to worry about strikes, and more importantly, our customers don’t have to worry about strikes and interruptions to their service.   Many customers take that into consideration when deciding who they do business with.

We have more flexibility, and less “red-tape” when working directly with our employees rather than through a third party.  Just like you, when our customers have issues, they want a resolution immediately, not ‘later.’  We know that working directly with you is the best and most efficient way to resolve issues and concerns.

Our Experience
Our experience with the Teamsters is another reason why we care about you remaining union free.  Over the years, the Teamsters have attacked our business and our customers.  They have repeatedly tried to hurt our customers, impact our business, and in effect, the jobs of our employees.

Teamster represented employees have been called out on strike, compelled to participate in sympathy strikes, distribute flyers at customers, etc.  All of these actions are focused on impacting our reputation and relationships with customers.

You need to really understand the impact of being represented.  That’s why we encourage you to get the facts before you make important decisions about union representation.  That’s why we care!

The Teamsters have a long history of attacking US Foods.
