US Foods knows that our success depends upon having good employees who are engaged in their jobs and work together as a team to provide our customers the high quality of service they have come to expect.  We appreciate the importance of what all our employees do, and know you are the most important ingredient to our success. We are dedicated to providing a good work environment where all our people can be successful.

We believe the best way to accomplish this is to work and communicate directly with you, without the involvement of a third party.  While we know we, and our processes are not flawless, we are confident that we can do a better job resolving any issues or concerns by working directly with you rather than through a third party who doesn’t understand, or care about our business and our employees.  We encourage you to speak to us directly. We want to ensure that you do not feel the need to pay a union to speak on your behalf. Furthermore, we don’t believe our people need to pay a third party to have good wages, benefits, and a good place to work.

While the vast majority of our employees are non-union, some employees are represented by labor unions. Unions are businesses with their own economic interests.  At times unions attempt to gain additional members by soliciting you and conducting union organizing activities. We feel it is important that you understand our position about unions.

First, the Company fully complies with all labor laws including those pertaining to union organizing, representation and bargaining. Where US Foods employees are represented by labor unions, US Foods abides by the terms of its labor agreements, and bargains in good faith, while giving consideration to our unique business operations, customer needs and the competitive environments where we operate.

Where employees are not represented by a union, we prefer to maintain our relationship and communicate directly with our people. It is not necessary, nor should it ever be necessary for you to need outside representation to be treated with respect and fairness.  We know employees sometimes become frustrated at work. We know we are not perfect.  As is the nature of our business, there will always be concerns and challenges to work through. Those operational, communication, and other business challenges are not something a union can fix. Working directly with you is how we resolve those issues. We believe in you; we believe in us. We want to continue to work directly with you to preserve an open working environment where concerns can be addressed and resolved in a timely manner, and where you can experience the benefits of a good working environment without having to pay union dues or take risks at the bargaining table.

This statement is informational only. Employees are not required to agree with or abide by the Company’s position regarding unions, and will not be disciplined or retaliated against for supporting or joining a union. If you have questions about unions or third party representation, contact your Location Manager or local Human Resources Representative.
